Microsoft is testing PC Insights for Copilot by reading data on CPU, RAM, GPU usage, and other
metrics, informing users via chat about the reasons for slow device operation. This feature is expected to complement or even replace Windows 11's Task Manager. PC Insights can also determine whether the device has enough space to install apps or games, and with user authorization, calculate file size, identify USB devices, external hard drives, battery health, and more. Microsoft emphasizes that users must explicitly authorize Copilot before it can access information, and it will not store or train models. However, this feature suffers from excessive memory usage; when idle, the Copilot desktop app uses up to 800MB of memory, with a maximum close to 1GB.
