After verification by the Mianyang education and public security departments, the posts were entirely fictitious, and there was no such candidate locally. Zhou has been subjected to administrative detention by the Mianyang police in accordance with Article 29 of the newly revised Law on Penalties for Administration of Public Security, effective from January 1, 2026.

目前，周某已被公安机关抓获，绵阳市公安机关依据自 2026 年 1 月 1 日起实施的新修订《中华人民共和国治安管理处罚法》第二十九条之规定，对其作出行政拘留处罚，并依法办理异地拘留执行手续。
