In an interview with The Economist, Elon Musk called for leading AI model developers to collaborate
on safety reviews before releasing new models and to report risks separately to government departments in Washington and Beijing, with Chinese AI developers also participating. He stated that he is willing to put aside personal grievances with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman for the benefit of the whole world. Musk also opposes the U.S. banning Chinese AI models, believing that restrictions cannot slow down China’s AI development and expressing confidence that China can solve chip supply issues through independently developing photolithography machines.
